Product Information
All guitarists will know that the most common problem you face in your playing life is signal loss. Either no signal at all or the stop / start of a bad connection. 9 times out of 10, this is due to a jack socket failure. So, you have one of 2 options.
1) Discover which angle you have to hold the guitar to enable satisfactory connection, (might explain some of those typical guitarist poses or painful expressions).
2) Replace your jack socket with a high quality part.
Over my years spent as a guitar tech, jack replacement became daily events. Mainly for teenagers who couldn't be bothered to tighten the nut when it came loose, so as the jack spun round under the pressure of the cable, the connection wired would be ripped out.
Most of the guitars would be mid priced instruments, however, I don't recall many replacements on top end guitars simply because the jack was a higher quality component and less prone to failure.
So the moral of this story is simple. It doesn't cost a lot to replace the hard working Jack Socket with that of a higher quality part. So save yourself time, hastle and the embarrasmant of crackles and pops, (they'll always come at the worst time), and invest in your instrument!
